Did you know that September is National preparedness month? This entire month is set aside in observance to help raise awareness about the importance of preparing for any kind of disaster.

First, you should talk with you family and friends to make a plan. Communication is an important part of being ready. Make sure that your family know what to do and where to go in case you get separated. 

Second, you should build a kit with supplies that can last for several days. Make sure to update kits often based on recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control. 

Third, know the risks of disaster in your area. This can help you prevent any kind of damage to your home or property. Check your insurance coverage for the types of disasters that are more common in your area.

Lastly, know who to call if your home or business does suffer damaged due to a disaster. Having the right people available to help mitigate, remediate, and reconstruct your home will give you great peace of mind.
