The upstate of South Carolina is expecting some severe weather Thursday March 18th, 2021 as a large storm makes its way east from the Mid-West. Local news outlets are reporting that, “this area has not been under a ‘very high risk’ like this since April 5th, 2017.” Our area of the upstate will experience high winds, heavy rains, large hail, and possibly even tornadoes. It is important that you have a plan for you and your family should a tornado touch down near your home or place of work, but you should also prepare your home for possible water damages. In order to do this, there are a number of steps you can take.
- Seal off basement area
- Secure items outside, such as garbage cans and outdoor furniture.
- Make sure all outside items left behind are secure.
- Clean the gutters on your home and storm drains near your house.
