October is Fire Prevention Month!
9/23/2020 (Permalink)
Did you know that October was named fire prevention month because of the great fire that took place in Chicago in 1871? It is important that we raise awareness to the families and businesses of our community but educating people on how to practice fire safety. This year the NFPA’s 2020 campaign for Fire Safety Month is, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen”.
SERVPRO of West Greenville County is happy to support this campaign and we have a few tips for how you can practice fire safety while in the kitchen.
- Install a smoke detector near, but not in the kitchen.
- Never leave cooking food unattended.
- Keep dish towels, potholders, and paper towels away from the stove.
While it is important to know how to prevent a fire in your kitchen, accidents do still happen and can be devastating to your family’s home. SERVPRO of West Greenville County can assist with the clean-up, demolition, and restoration of any house fire. Our production crew is always, “Here to Help”!
